As Trump’s presidency comes to an end, he has spared no expense denying his six million vote loss. After the campaign dolled out three million dollars for a recount in Wisconsin, 74 additional votes for Joe Biden were discovered, further extending his opponent’s lead.
While his final days pass, he continues to tweet excessively, sharing baseless election conspiracy theories with the world and even floating the idea of pardoning himself before leaving office.
Trump pardons Michael Flynn
Although Trump may not be capable of solving his own legal issues, he is expected to pardon those implicated in the “Russiagate” ordeal.
A former lieutenant general in the Army, Michael Flynn was a vocal supporter of Trump’s 2016 campaign and was subsequently appointed as the National Security Advisor in his administration. He resigned shortly after taking this position.
After pleading guilty to lying to the FBI, Flynn later reversed course, insisting that he had been manipulated into doing so.
Biden will probably break his student loan campaign promises
During his campaign, President-elect Joe Biden made many promises to solve the massive student loan catastrophe that is currently burdening over 40 million Americans, but hopefully you didn’t hold your breath.
He was initially pressured by his colleagues to tackle this issue with executive orders, but he is now calling on Congress to step up to the plate.
Sure, this doesn’t mean that he won’t do anything–he isn’t even the president yet–but it seems likely that he will pass the buck. After all, that’s what he’s been doing for the past half a century.
The Supreme Court rules in favor of the Church
New York Governor (and Emmy Award winner, for some unknown reason) Andrew Cuomo enacted legislation limiting the number of individuals allowed in religious establishments at any given time to 25% capacity, up to a maximum of 10 people.
Challenging the constitutionality of this mandate, the Roman Catholic Diocese took it all the way to the Supreme Court.
The Court ruled 5 to 4 in favor of religious groups, along ideological lines, due to the recent appointment of associate justice Amy Coney Barrett.
Some of America’s most notorious drug dealers get away with murder
Purdue Pharma, controlled by the Sackler family until recently, has been repeatedly found guilty of purposely getting people hooked on prescription pain medication solely for the sake of increased sales.
In the past, they were found to have paid off software developers to program their application to give doctors prompts to prescribe patients Oxycontin far more than they should–one of several heinous crimes fueling the opioid crisis.
Each year, over 45,000 people die of opioid overdose in the United States. The Sacklers amassed their fortune by fueling this epidemic, now estimated by Forbes to be one of the wealthiest families in America.
They face no jail time for their crimes.
Now they just shoot people they disagree with
Christopher Krebs, a staunch conservative and director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency at the Department of Homeland Security, parted ways with the Republican party recently when he stated that the 2020 election was more secure than any previous election in American history.
The president fired him after he disputed Trump’s evidence-free election fraud conspiracy theories.
Afterwards, one of Trump’s campaign attorneys stated on Newsmax that Krebs ought to be taken out and shot.
Israel accused of assassinating an Iranian nuclear scientist
Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, founder of the Islamic Republic’s nuclear initiative, was killed, and Iran claims Israel is behind his death.
Initially, reports circulated that unidentified men opened fire on Fakhrizadeh after a vehicle exploded.
Now, some are speculating that the gunfire was controlled remotely, and the explosion was an attempt to destroy the evidence.
Biden still hates progress
Do you absolutely love for-profit healthcare? Do you find deep joy in the idea of drilling miles into the earth, causing earthquakes, poisoning ground water, and decreasing the lifespan of local residents all for the sake of increased revenue for the fossil fuel industry?
If so, you are in luck! Joe Biden announced the appointment of more neoliberal cabinet members, including:
• Jen Psaki, Press Secretary
• Kate Bedingfield, White House Communications Director
• Neera Tanden, Director of the Office of Management and Budget
They, too, hate progressive policies like taking care of the environment and making sure poor people can see a doctor when they’re sick. Don’t worry though–they’re all women, which makes everything better!
