President Donald Trump refuses to concede, but did we ever expect him to? With two months remaining until Joe Biden is sworn in, the current president has baselessly attacked the validity of our democracy, igniting conspiracy theories around the world.
Here, Trump claims that nearly a million votes for him were deleted. The reality, however, is that Dominion was only used in 14 counties in Pennsylvania, totaling 1.3 million votes. Half of those votes are already in favor of Trump.
The blue wave never arrived
The Democratic Party banked on a blue wave sweeping the nation, providing them control of the House and Senate, but it never arrived.
Runoffs for both Senate seats in Georgia are scheduled on January 5, 2020. If Democrats manage to win both races, a 50-50 tie will occur, allowing the Senate’s tie-breaking vote to be cast by the Vice President, Kamala Harris.
2016 versus 2020
In 2016, Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by nearly 3 million votes, but she lost the election. Trump touted a “landslide” electoral college victory of 304 to 227.
Today, Biden is projected to win the popular vote by roughly 5 million votes. He is also expected to win the electoral college with 306 to Trump’s 232. Landslide? No.
