Just a few months ago, Joe Biden was written off almost entirely, with little to no chance of grasping the democratic nomination, inspiring Michael Bloomberg to launch his over-half-a-billion-dollar campaign (which failed miserably) in a last minute attempt to demolish Bernie Sanders’ movement.
We saw a close race between Pete Buttigieg and Sanders in Iowa and New Hampshire and glimmers of hope for the other “moderate” or “electable” candidates, and yet, here we are. Those very same individuals who once sought to overthrow Biden have now come out to endorse him.
“I think there was a lot of moments where a number of us were looking at us on our stage when he tends to go on sometimes. At one point he’s talking about people in communities like mine listening to record players… There are definitely moments where you listen to Joe Biden and you just wonder,” Cory Booker once said of Biden’s cognitive decline in a post-debate interview. He also attacked Biden on a number of other topics, from Criminal Justice Reform to Civil Rights.
He laid into Biden in one debate, saying “Mr. Vice President has said that since the 1970s, every major crime bill–every crime bill, major and minor–has had his name on it. And sir, those are your words, not mine.”
Humorously enough, Booker now endorses him, declaring that he will “restore honor to the Oval Office.” To ice the cake, even Booker’s girlfriend knows that Sanders is a far superior option; she voted for him!
Kamala Harris was very, very briefly a crowd favorite among the candidates flooding the stage, and during that time, she didn’t hold back on Biden either.
“There was a little girl in California who was part of the second class to integrate her public schools, and she was bused to school every day, and that little girl was me,” Harris said to Biden in a debate, calling him out for his historically pro-segregation stance in the ’70s.
But… guess what? She flip-flopped too, endorsing him in what looks like a hostage video, stating “He is a public servant who has always worked for the best of who we are as a nation and we need that right now.”
Additionally, Biden received rather nonsensical endorsements from people such as Andrew Yang who share none of the same stances on any major issue.
Why endorse a man with such a terrible record? We may never know, but while we’re here, let’s briefly look at said record.
Why is Joe Biden unelectable?
At the end of 1993, Biden co-wrote The Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994. The bill aimed to increase funding on the state and federal level to build more prisons, give harsher sentences, hire more police officers, and follow through with more capital punishment, just to name a few of its far reaching consequences. To this day, he claims it was a positive thing.
In 1995, Biden co-wrote a bill that became known as The Omnibus Counterterrorism Act of 1995. This piece of legislation is a gross invasion of privacy to the whole of the American public. Six years later, his bill was tweaked slightly to fit the “needs” of George W. Bush; you may know it by a different name… The Patriot Act.
In 2005, after two previous failed attempts (once in 2000 and again in 2001) to make life more difficult for the working class, Biden helped pass The Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention And Consumer Protection Act of 2005. This bill not only made filing bankruptcy much more difficult, but it most notably removed student loans from erasable debt.
Joe Biden has also historically tried to cut funding for Social Security and Medicare, though he categorically denies it:
He’s also got a pretty unsettling record when it comes to women and children. Here’s a cringe-worthy video to drive that point home:
Not only has Joe Biden said that desegregation would cause his kids to have to grow up in a “racial jungle,” but he also occasionally makes other statements that most people would consider racist in passing. Here he is telling an Indian man that people need an Indian accent to work at 7/11 or Dunkin’ Donuts:
In summary, the #NeverBiden movement is not only justified–it’s a necessity. Joe Biden is an unelectable piece of garbage.
